dia e hora

-     Terça-feira, 28 de Junho de 2011, entre as 12h30 e as 13h30

Resumo: Tim´s seminar will cover the topic of forestry, land use and climate change and give some background on national issues and research activities in this area. New Zealand´s economy is built upon its primary sector – agriculture, forestry, horticulture, and sustainable management of these sectors is critical to New Zealand in the long term. The way we look at land management and agriculture is changing and climate change has had a lot to do with this, both by posing threats to our land management but also by providing new opportunities for the economy. The seminar will cover New Zealand
perceptions of climate change and forestry, mitigation and adaptation options, and opportunities. The collaborative TRANZFOR project between ISA (João Palma) and Scion (Tim Payn) on the development of a web based explorer for forest ecosystem services (WEFES) forms part of a response to the opportunities available from climate change.
There may also be mention of Hobbits.
